 re planning to upgrade the software which runs the main OpenStreetMap data
 base. Unfortunately\, we cannot do this without some downtime.\n\nThe foll
 owing services WILL be affected:\n\n* www.openstreetmap.org web site WILL 
 NOT allow edits\,\n* API will NOT allow map editing (using iD\, JOSM\, etc
 )\, and\n* replication updates will be paused (minutely updates and change
 set replication).\n\nWe expect that the database upgrade will not take the
  full duration\, and we will try as far as possible to keep the API availa
 ble in read-only mode\, but the API may be briefly unavailable.\n\nAt time
 s you may be unable to login to services which requires openstreetmap.org 
 authentication (e.g. community\, forum\, and help)\n\nOther OpenStreetMap 
 provided services should not be affected except for login - all of the fol
 lowing are expected to function normally:\n\n* Map viewing on www.openstre
 etmap.org\n* nominatim (search)\n* standard tile layer\n* wiki\n* taginfo\
 n* mailing lists\n* Distribution of planet file and existing diffs\n\nServ
 ices not run by the OSMF will not be impacted\, except there will be no up
