DESCRIPTION:An [experienced public transport mapper](https://www.openstree
tmap.org/user/contrapunctus/history) will teach you how to add and edit pu
 blic transport routes on OSM.\n\nDate - Sunday\, 26th November 2023\n\n##
Requirements\n1. Basic experience with OSM editing. [JOSM](https://josm.op
enstreetmap.de/) experience is preferred\, but not necessary.\n\n2. Laptop
  or desktop with [JOSM](https://josm.openstreetmap.de/) installed.\n\n3. A
mouse is highly recommended\, even if you have a trackpad.\n\n4. One or m
ore GPS tracks for any unmapped public transport route(s)\, preferably wit
h stops/stations recorded as track waypoints or geotagged photos.\n\n Id
eally the track will start at the route's starting point and stop where th
e route ends\, but we can work with subsets too.\n\n A public transport
route can be made for any of the following\, as long as it's open to the p
ublic and operates on a fixed route - bus\, minibus\, coach (interstate bu
 s)\, train\, subway/Metro\, tram\, share taxi\, share auto/Vikram/Gramin S
 eva\, share e-rickshaw\, etc.\n\n# How do I record a GPS track?\nWe recomm
end using [OsmAnd](https://osmand.net/) for recording tracks and waypoints
 .\n\n1. Install [OsmAnd](https://osmand.net/) on your phone. In OsmAnd\, g
 o to `Plugins`\, and enable `Trip Recording`. You should now see a `REC` b
utton in the upper-right corner of OsmAnd.\n\n2. Get into the vehicle whos
e route you want to record.\n\n3. Hit the `REC` button in OsmAnd. Set logg
 ing interval to `Continuous`\, enable `Show on map`\, and press `Start`. C
heck periodically that the track is indeed being recorded - ideally\, keep
OsmAnd in foreground all the time.\n\n4. (If possible) Make a waypoint fo
r each stop. Long press on the map - `Actions - Add track waypoint - Curre
ntly recording track`. In the `Name` field\, type the name of the stop\, a
 nd (ideally) whether it has a sign\, a bench\, a shelter\, and/or tactile
paving. (It's considered a stop as long as the vehicle stops there and peo
ple can board and/or deboard at it - even if it has no other physical mark
ers.) Tap `Save`.\n\n5. When the route ends\, stop recording by tapping th
e `REC` button - `Finish`.\n\n6. When prompted for the file name\, add the
name and number (and ideally the names of the first and last stops) of th
e route at the end of the file name. For example - \n `2023-08-21-21-00
 _Mon (train) 14521 Delhi Ambala Express`\, \n `2023-08-21_21-00_Mon (bu
 s) MC-137D Shastri Park Metro Station - Mayur Vihar Phase 3`\, etc\nEvent
