DESCRIPTION:The 10th OpenStreetMap Delhi mapping party is taking place thi
s Sunday. We'll avoid the humid weather by mapping in the comfort of an ai
 r-conditioned mall.\n\nWe'll learn how to use [Vespucci](https://vespucci.
io/) for adding data indoors. Thus\, an Android smartphone is highly recom
mended\, although we can still accommodate iOS users.\n\nYou don't need an
y experience with OSM or maps to participate\, so bring all your friends a
 long!\n\n🗓️ Date - Sunday\, 21st of July \n🕙 Time - 3:30 PM to 6
 PM \n🗺️ Location - [V3S Mall](geo:28.637553\,77.286677)\, Nirman Vih
ar Metro Station (Blue Line)\n\n## What is OpenStreetMap?\n\nOpenStreetMap
is a map of the world made by people like you\, which anybody can use\, s
hare\, and edit. You can think of it as the Wikipedia of maps.\n\nIt is us
 ed by numerous websites\, organizations\, companies (e.g. Wikipedia\, Ola
 Maps\, redBus\, Doctors Without Borders\, Pokemon Go\, Zomato\, Uber\, Ama
 zon)\, and [free software](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_software) (e
.g. Organic Maps and OsmAnd).\n\nContributing to OpenStreetMap is fun. You
get to explore the world\, find interesting places\, and document them fo
r yourself and others. You improve a public resource which helps everyone
and is not controlled by any one company.\n\nYou can learn more about OSM
 on these pages - \nhttps://www.openstreetmap.org/about \nhttps://welcome
 .openstreetmap.org/ \nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenStreetMap \n\n##
What will we be doing?\n\n1. Meet and greet\n2. Teaching - new participan
ts are taught how to use and edit OSM on their phones\; existing mappers m
ay be introduced to new apps and techniques\n3. Everyone is split into tea
ms\, and each team is assigned an area to map\n4. The teams disperse\, and
map their assigned areas for an hour\n5. Regroup\; review the changes on
the OSM website\n\n## Who are you?\n\nWe are passionate and experienced Op
enStreetMap contributors who improve it for fun in our free time. Many of
us are also [free software](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_software) a
nd privacy activists.\n\n## Useful equipment to bring along\n\n * a functi
oning smartphone (recommended\; Android strongly preferred)\n * a power ba
 nk (optional)\n * a charging cable (optional)\n * drinking water\n\n## How
do I join?\n\nParticipants should write to us [over email](mailto:contrap
 unctus@disroot.org) or [over XMPP](https://xmpp.link/#contrapunctus@jabjab
 .de) with -\n\n * their name\, and\n * their phone number [1]\n\nPast part
icipants can omit the name and phone number.\n\n[1] We use phone numbers s
trictly for event coordination and for inviting you to future events. You
can omit the phone number\, but you risk not getting information in time.
