SUMMARY:MapYourGrid webinar: Data quality in OpenStreetMap for energy syst
 em planning

DESCRIPTION:After one year of activity\, [MapYourGrid team](https://wiki.o
 penstreetmap.org/wiki/Organised_Editing/Activities/MapYourGrid_Initiative)
will held an online webinar on January 8th 2026\, 5pm CET. It will focus
on the impact of data quality for power systems modelling and particularly
about OpenStreetMap data used in this process.\n\nWe plan to show how we
assess and monitor the [data quality](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/
Power_networks/Quality_Assurance)\, consistency and completeness with seve
ral tools\, particularly Osmose QA and how mappers can improve several tag
s with that knowledge in mind. Some of these tools has been part of our St
ate of the Map Europe workshop in Dundee and have yet improved since. Cont
ributing to extend the existing OpenStreetMap software prior to create mor
e particular logic is at the core of our strategy.\n\nCompleting this data
is useful for open source tools designed for power systems modelling. We
 will welcome [PyPSA-meets-Earth community](https://pypsa-meets-earth.githu
b.io/) members to explain how the outcome of simulations improves along th
e input data.\n\nFinally and related to [the proposal submitted to RFC](ht
 tps://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposal:Power_generation_storage) recen
tly\, we will also welcome maintainers of [PowerPlantMatching tool](https:
//powerplantmatching.readthedocs.io/en/latest/) to get insights about seve
ral power generation data repositories matching\, with OpenStreetMap and W
ikidata help as well.\n\nThe webinar is free to attend and talks will be i
 n English.\nEvent Website: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/data-quality-the-i
